senior network engineer

Due to expansion, our client in Aberdeen is looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join their growing team on a full-time permanent basis.

Please note applicants must have the RTW in the UK and stay within daily commute distance to Aberdeen prior to applying for this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support via phone, e-mail, ticketing systems and site attendance.

  • Escalate requests where appropriate and follow through to resolution.

  • Follow current policies, processes and service levels to ensure compliance.

  • Maintain excellent standards of communication and customer care.

  • Retain ownership and responsibility for the support issue through to resolution.

  • Out of hours support and resolution - be available throughout on call hours

  • Assist in system audits, stock management and control.

  • Manage company infrastructure development projects.

  • Work with business development team to understand & scope client's service needs.

  • Review, recommend and approve written customer proposals from a technical perspective where appropriate ready for managerial approval.

  • Work with the sales team supporting bid/tender processes as required.

  • Identify issues or areas for improvement pro-actively.

  • Provide leads and market intelligence to business development team.

Essential skills, expertise and qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant technical engineering discipline

  • Take pride in delivering exceptional levels of customer support and building trust

  • Strong experience in deployment, configuration and support of firewalls, routers and switches to maximise network availability, efficiency and security

  • Experience of working and developing an ITIL environment

  • Experience of monitoring, diagnosing and troubleshooting network and infrastructure faults and performance

  • Strong understanding of cyber security principles, priorities and incident management

  • Project management experience ensuring delivery of key milestones across concurrent projects

  • Excellent customer facing skills and experience in supporting the pre-sales activity

  • Be able to be part of our on-call rota and support

  • Maintaining awareness of latest industry technologies and updates

  • Writing and maintaining technical documentation

Desirable skills:

  • Achieve and maintain vendor certification, e.g. Cisco, Palo-Alto, Juniper

  • Knowledge of working to cybersecurity standards; Cyber Essentials Plus, IASME, ISO27001

  • Experience of working in an Agile or Prince2 project management framework

  • Experience in the research, development a n d rollout of new services

  • Experience of Azure/ Microsoft 365
