qa/qc engineer

Due to continued growth, we have an amazing opportunity for a QA/QC Engineer for our client in Aberdeen on a full-time permanent basis.

Hours: 38 hours weekly, Mon - Fri, 1pm finish on a Friday.

Your role will be to ensure that all products and processes meet defined quality standards and regulatory requirements throughout the fabrication lifecycle. This role involves the inspection of incoming materials, oversight of welding and fabrication activities, and final inspection before delivery, to ensure product compliance and integrity.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Creation of all required quality documentation for workshop projects Inc. Route Sheets, Weld Maps etc.

  • Inspect raw materials, fabricated components, and final products to ensure compliance with specifications.

  • Monitor fabrication processes (welding, cutting, machining, assembly) to detect and resolve quality issues early.

  • Prepare and maintain inspection records, quality reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and corrective action plans (CAPAs) To liaise with department heads on matters relating to quality control throughout the production process.

  • To co-ordinate all sites calibration equipment to ensure calibration equipment is managed effectively and efficiently.

  • Attend Quality Meetings and present quality reports.

  • Adhere to HSEQ Policies and Procedures relevant to your work area and job function at all times

Skills and Abilities:

  • Possess computer skills and knowledge of using Microsoft software packages such as Word and Excel.

  • Ability to understand, evaluate and apply specifications and standards.

  • Demonstrated self-starter with high initiative and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • High level of interpersonal skills and ability to represent the company in a professional manner.

  • Proficient in root cause analysis tools (Fishbone/Ishikawa Diagram, 5 whys).

  • Understanding of inspection and testing methods, including NDT and dimensional inspection.

  • Proficient in interpreting structural drawings, weld symbols, and fabrication details.

  • Skilled in using measuring instruments and inspection tools.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Have proven experience in a Quality Engineering and Quality Inspection role related to welding (Degree level qualification or equivalent experience).

  • Previous experience constructing weld maps.

  • CSWIP or working towards.

  • Previous experience working within a fabrication industry.

  • Internal auditor qualification preferred.

  • Preferred working knowledge of Non Destructive Testing documentation requirements.

  • Preferred working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
