IT systems engineer

Job Overview
Our client has a fantastic new opportunity for an experienced IT Systems Engineer to join their team in Aberdeen on a full time permanent basis.

Maintaining Standards

  • Work in line with technical standards provided for service provision

  • Diligently maintain all work administration requirements

Delivering solutions

  • Installing, configuring and troubleshooting servers, workstations & infrastructure

  • Management and optimisation of O365 E-mail environment, SharePoint, Apps

  • Implementing best practises for security in line with CE+ and/or ISO27002

  • Monitoring and maintaining backup, continuity and disaster recovery systems

  • Monitoring systems & automation software

  • Optimising systems and infrastructure availability

  • Liaising with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution

  • Prepared to provide levels 1 and 2 and some level 3 support as required

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • In depth technical experience, awareness of emerging technologies and best practise solutions to common problems

  • In depth knowledge of Microsoft 365 products and licensing

  • Familiar with support and configuration of Cloud environments (Azure or AWS)

  • Understanding of networking and TCP-IP

  • Infrastructure development - strong knowledge of the principles and processes of infrastructure design, implementation and support

  • Software support – knowledge of information technology and common computer software, and competent in the specific software and technology that Converged deals with

  • Familiarity with the Information Technology Infrastructure Library –comfortable working within the processes and tasks described in the ITIL

  • Strong communication skills - to engage customers and suppliers and work effectively within the Technical Team.

  • Excellent Problem-solving skills –prepared to deal with any technical problem needing attention and capable of seeking optimum solutions and an advanced ability to troubleshoot effectively

  • At least five years of experience in delivering IT solutions.

  • In depth knowledge of technology and IT.

  • Accreditation to ITIL desirable.

Other Responsibilities

  • Duty Cover on Team rotation, including Evenings, Weekends, Christmas and New Year

  • Prepared to work out of hours (TOIL/Overtime) on request (not frequently)
