health, safety & environmental manager
Our well-established client in Peterhead has an amazing opportunity for a Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Manager who will be responsible to assist in the development of strategic policies in line with key corporate objectives for all matters relating to Health, Safety and Environmental within the company.
Please note this can be a contractor or permanent role to suit the right candidate.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive.
Development and maintenance of the organisation’s HSE management systems.
Engage with the Board, executive management team and stakeholder community to develop quantifiable and practical objectives for continuous improvement.
Work with management, employees and stakeholder community to ensure the successful implementation of the HSE policies, processes, and guidelines.
Work to reduce HSE related errors while increasing operational efficiency.
Provide advice to the business on HSE matters e.g., fire, hazardous substances, waste management, work equipment, occupational health and reportable incidents.
Ensure registers and management systems are in place for all necessary activities for example, COSHH, LOLER, PUWER.
Conduct investigations into incidents to establish causation and corrective measures ensuring that these measures are monitored and effective.
Maintain current knowledge of legislation and regulatory requirements related to HSE matters and assist in the maintenance of the organisation’s legal registers.
Conduct internal HSE audits and facilitate third party audits of the organisation’s HSE management systems.
Provision of advice to the business on management of non-conformance.
Conduct incident investigations.
Prepare and update emergency response procedures and accident reports.
Undertake surveys using equipment to assess risks to health e.g., noise surveys.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
NEBOSH General Certificate, NVQ Level 3 in OHS or equivalent.
Internal Auditor qualification.
Detailed knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
Membership of IOSH.
Significant experience of HSE standards and up-to-date regulatory requirements.
Demonstrable experience in continuous monitoring and improvement, eg investigations, audits and ability to identify opportunities for improvement.
Competent in leading change and making interventions to improve organisational effectiveness.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
Proven ability to develop and implement HSE policies, processes, guidelines and initiatives.
Ability to effectively influence and negotiate with all levels.
Effective presentation skills.
Proactive with a drive for results attitude.
First-class planning and organisational skills.
Analytical approach with ability to interpret data.
