bookkeeper

We are looking for a meticulous and detail-oriented bookkeeper to join our clients growing team on a remote basis.

This is a part time working from home position with the requirement to attend in-person meetings in the Aberdeenshire office area quarterly.

The ideal candidate will have AAT Level 2 or equivalent (AAT Level 3 preferred) and strong proficiency in Xero, Sage, and QuickBooks. You will play a vital role in managing financial records and ensuring the smooth operation of financial processes.

Hours: 16 - 23 hours per week - Hours will be discussed to suit both applicant and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales & Purchase Ledger Management – Handling and recording transactions accurately

  • Processing Invoices – Managing supplier invoices and reconciling payments

  • Bank Reconciliations – Ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded

  • Nominal Code Management – Assigning and reviewing transactions for accuracy

  • VAT Returns – Assisting with preparation and submission

  • Journals & Adjustments – Ensuring correct financial records

  • Payroll Processing – Managing payroll for clients

  • Document Management – Filing and organising invoices and records

  • Reporting & Analysis – Producing financial reports, including Creditor & Debtor reports

  • Client & Internal Communication – Handling emails, phone calls, and queries

  • Administrative Support – Assisting with bookkeeping and office tasks as required

Required Skills and Experience:

  • AAT Level 3 qualification (or relevant experience)

  • A-Level Maths (Grade B or above)

  • Proficiency in bookkeeping software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, FreeAgent)

  • Confident in Excel – Strong understanding of formulas and data management

  • Analytical Skills - Ability to understand, analyse, and present financial data clearly

  • Great communicator – Clear and professional in emails and phone calls

  • Problem-solver & team player – Able to work independently and collaboratively

  • Highly organised - Strong organisational and time management abilities

  • Confidential & trustworthy – Handling sensitive financial data responsibly
